Let me be one of the first to say that I am proud of you. I am so proud you made it halfway through the semester. You have made it over the hallway point. You have passed all of your midterms and it is smooth sailing from here. You've gotten into the rhythm of things. You know how your teachers teach. You know how they test. And you've hopefully found a good ally in each of your classes. From here to the end of the semester there is nothing you can't accomplish. You are going to pass with flying colors.
And you thought this semester would crawl by.
Yet here we are, halfway through. Before you know it, it will be December and you will be finishing up your final exams. You'll marvel at how fast time goes by.
Remember when you were a little kid? Remember when you couldn't wait to grow up? There once was a time when you looked up to the fifth grades, thinking they were the best thing around. You couldn't wait to be just like them. Did you notice how long time seemed to pass back then? It felt like you wouldn't be like them for decades.
Then you couldn't wait to be in middle school where you no longer had to walk in lines from lesson to lesson. Just that small change of pace gave you a little taste of freedom. Middle school may have been hell, but it was over soon enough.
From there you would hope for high school. They were the ones who you dreamt of being. They were the age of all of your favorite characters from all of your favorite movies. But as soon as you got in, you couldn't wait for it to be over. You couldn't wait to graduate. You couldn't wait to start afresh.
And now you're finally here, realizing how fast things really go. Here you pause and reflect on all of the time you spent worrying about getting through something.
Well you did it, you're halfway through another semester and that's something to be proud of. Your younger self would look at you in amazement, thinking it'll take forever to be where you are. But from your point of view, you got there in a blink of an eye.
No matter the test, the difficult course, or the personal drama you face, that all shall pass. Things may be rough in the moment, but know that it won't last forever. Know that everything must return to the mean. Don't believe me? Look back at what got you here today, I guarantee that there wasn't hardship that didn't make you stronger.
So if you feel like you're drowning in work, if you feel like your brain has overloaded with information, remember this: You have made it over halfway, you might as well finish what you started.
You got this.
