What's On My Playlist?
Posted on August 17 2017
Tired of listening to the same old music? Wanna hear a throwback? Need something new to jam to while showering, studying, or just for the heck of it? Look no further! I am here to share with you the songs I have on my playlist, even if you've heard of them or not. Yes my playlist is random, but who doesn't love listening to great songs?! Here are 15 of my favorite songs with my opinion of them:
1. The Louvre
First, and foremost, I absolutely love Lorde! She is genius with her music and actually takes the time to write her own music to make it sound amazing and completely different than any other kind of artist. "The Louvre" is from Lorde's new album, Melodrama, which was released this summer. The album is completely unique and artistic, but let's get back to the song. Whenever you're in your feels about a crush, just want to dance, or just feel good from a song, this is it! This song is about an ideal relationship, so it always bring me back to a moment in my life about a crush that I used to have. Plus, the instruments and the combinations of them make you feel completely happy and energized.
2. Sober II (Melodrama)
Ahh yes, another Lorde song from her new album. Honestly, I just recommend all of her songs from both of her albums. Anyways, this song is a perfect song to jam to, especially if you're mad at an ex or a friend, in my opinion. This is the type of song that makes you feel confident, pumped, and energized in an angry way, especially during the chorus. So I had to research a little for the meaning behind the song, and basically, it's about a party that's forgotten, but moments of it are over told to and by everyone. Anyways, it's a great song to listen to.
This song is by Travis Scott, which is on the Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight album. What I love about this song is that it's about a crush or a love, yet the musical instruments make the meaning of it so hype. It's a great song to get pumped to, so it reminds me of the song that would play at a basketball or football game, or just a party.
Kendrick Lamar's new album, DAMN, is definitely one of my favorite albums. First of all, Rihanna is featured in the song, so it already makes it a great song. "Loyalty" is a great "car ride" song to listen to with friends, whether it's 1 in the morning or afternoon. The beats and music styles he uses in the song are so creative, which is why I love it so much.
5. You See Me
Donald Glover, a.k.a "Childish Gambino", is one of the most talented, yet fearless artists, I think. He's famous for being a singer, actor, comedian, and so many other successful roles. Before he became famous, he faced many challenges in his life, which only motivated him to succeed. His show, Atlanta, is about his early life and how he got to where he is today, which is a favorite of mine. Anyways, I would say that this song is also another hype song to listen to. You can find it on the Camp album.
Chance The Rapper is also another inspiring and creative artist of mine. He grew up making mix-tapes using SoundCloud, knowing he would make his dreams come true, while raising a daughter. Not only to mention he makes sure his music is free to the public. He tells his fans that you can play by your own rules because it's your life, making his music one of the best in today's world. This song is a gospel-type of song that is dedicated to God for all of the marvelous things he has given to him. What makes it even a greater song is that you usually don't hear songs about God from highly-known artists. His album, Coloring Book, is my favorite album of his!
7. All These Things That I've Done
The Killers is a favorite alternative band of mine. Their songs aren't just about love, which is something that interests me due to how tiring it is to hear so many love songs. This song is about hope, but with a twist of rock in it, so it is definitely a classic. Every time I hear this song, it always puts me in a great mood and motivates me to keep pushing, even when times are getting tough. I recommend listening to this song, as well as the others on the Hot Fuss album, when you're down in the dumps.
8. Mind Over Matter
I have to say, this song helped me discover this musical band. The song is so instrumental that it sounds so good to your ears. This is the type of song that makes you want to burst out and sing to, while having your heart filled with passion and love. Lol, I sound cheesy, but that's the only way to describe it. Young the Giant has a ton of great songs to listen to, but the album you can find this song from is Mind Over Matter, which includes similar songs like this one.
9. Nine In The Afternoon
This is such a classic Panic! At the Disco song that all you can do is sing and feel joyful. I don't even care how contradicting the name of the song is, it's just a great, uplifting song you have to have on your playlist. I recommend listening to this song while you're walking down the street, whether it be in a city or in a neighborhood. Find this song on the Pretty. Odd. album.
10. Love Never Felt So Good
Have you ever seen the movie, 27 Dresses? Well this song always reminds me of that movie because it's the kind of song you would play at a wedding. The song is found on Michael Jackson's XSCAPE album. It's such an uplifting and warm-hearted kind of song that all you can do is sing! It includes Justin Timberlake, so be ready to sing out loud to it. Sing this song in the car with/to your man or woman. It'll definitely bring a smile to their face.
11. Women of the World (Go On Strike!)
Yes, this song DOES make you want to go on a strike, lol. This song is dedicated to all girls and women, no matter what age. The song is from Begin Again, a great movie about a woman trying to make it into the music industry while facing many challenges. It is definitely an empowering and uplifting song that needs to be heard. Hey, maybe it'll motivate you to protest or speak up against something you don't agree with.
12. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
If you don't have at least one classic 60's rock song on your playlist, then I feel sorry for you. You can find this song, as well as "The Day In The Life," on the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The Beatles introduced many of the first psychedelic songs to our world, which I will truly thank for. This psychedelic song has such beautiful rhythms and beats, that it is one of my all time favorite 60's classics. If you're into this song, I also recommend "I Am the Walrus", which you can find on the 1967-1970 Blue album. Trust me, your ears will love you for blessing them with such rhythmic songs. Maybe your mind, too?
I have heard this song since I was a child, but only did I start appreciating it when I heard it on American Horror Story's: The Coven, which I highly recommend watching. I always feel a little rebellious every time I listen to this song because Stevie Nicks has always seemed so bad ass to me with her music and clothes. You can find this on the Fleetwood Mac album.
14. Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)
This mid-2000's pop song will always have a special place in my heart, especially for Enrique Iglesias. This is the kind of song that will make you get out of your chair and start dancing. Only the real ones will remember burning this song to a CD to play in your car or in your room, not to mention storing it with the hundreds of collections of CD's you had. You can find this up-beat song from the Insomniac album.
Okay, EVERYONE should know this Fergie song, but if you don't, what are you doing with your life? This #tbt song always makes me feel all lovey-dovey, just like the rest of her songs. This is only one of the many songs that you would jam to with your friends in the backseat of the car, while blasting it at full volume. Fergie definitely never failed to make a good throwback song. Find this song from The Dutchess album.
